Tofutti - Dairy Free Products

Tofutti Brands, Inc. develops and distributes a complete line of delicious dairy-free foods including frozen desserts, cheese products and prepared dishes. Available throughout the United States and in more than 30 countries, Tofutti Brands answers the call of millions of people who do are allergic to dairy, as well as those who choose a healthy, dairy-free, cholesterol-free lifestyle. Today the company offers a complete line of more than 60 dairy-free products.

I was so excited to try this line of products because my sister is lactose intolerant and several of my friends are on a gluten-free diet, so I am always eager to try new "dietary restriction" items. The first product I tried was one of their frozen dessert items: YOURS TRULY. Yours Truly are ice cream cones that come with a healthy scoop of creamy vanilla Tofutti inside a chocolate coated crispy cone, then covered in deep, rich chocolate, topped off with a crispy chocolate cookie crunch. As well as the Caramel Sundae cone with Vanilla Tofutti, creamy caramel inside a chocolate coated crispy cone, then covered in deep, rich chocolate and chocolate cookie crunch. These were very tasty and I couldn't tell the difference between these and a normal ice cream cone.

Next I tried their version of sour cream: SOUR SUPREME. Similar in taste and texture to traditional sour cream, Sour Supreme is milk free, butterfat free and contains no cholesterol. It has the versatility of sour cream with the added benefit of being dairy free. The original flavor is available in 12 oz. retail packages and 30 lb. bulk boxes for food service customers. I used this in baked potatoes, and again, could not tell the different between this and regular sour cream.

I also decided to make chicken alfredo from scratch using the Tofutti Ricotta Cheese. It was very fattening (with all that cream), but tasted delicious! :)

I enjoyed the cones, sour cream and ricotta cheese, but I have to admit I didn't love the raspberry pops. They tasted a bit like perfume to me, which was hard to get past, but all in all, I think these are great products for people with a lactose allergy.

  1. Ooh! Chicken Alfredo would be awesome with this stuff. I love it but though I'm not lactose intolerant exactly, it sometimes does irritate my stomach.

  2. The Cuties ice cream bars are actually pretty good! Tofu gets such a bad rep for whatever reason!
