Nu Skin's Face Lift With Activator

Face Lift works immediately to temporarily lift and tighten the face and neck for a firmer, more youthful appearance. This formula firms and tones the skin within minutes, smoothing away the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles.

How to Use: Cleanse face and neck with Cleansing Lotion or other cleansing choice. Mix one teaspoon of Lift Activator with one teaspoon of Lift Powder until you have the consistency of a thin lotion. Before first usage, first test lotion for irritancy on a small, unnoticeable two inch area of the skin such as behind the ear. Apply in an upward-outward motion with a brush in an even light coat. Leave on for 30 minutes. Remove by thoroughly flushing with warm water. Follow with pH Balance, Celltrex Ultra Recovery Fluid and the Nu Skin moisturizer of your choice. Use once or twice weekly.

Ive used this product every week for about 4 weeks, and I'm not sure I've noticed a visible difference yet, but my skin feels tighter, especially when applying this product. If you want to get an idea of how tightly it pulls your skin when it's on your face, check out my photo below, but I'll warn you, it's scary looking, haha. You can see my skin pulling so tight it's wrinkling and creasing. The wrinkles in the skin are temporary, but do leave some red marks for about 15 minutes after using this, so I wouldn't suggest using this before you have to go out unless you have 15-30 minutes in between use and going out.

If you have wrinkles or your skin isn't feeling as tight as it used to, give it a try. Use this code for 20% off your purchase: EXCLUSIVE20

Through Waters Deep by Sarah Sundin

It is 1941 and America teeters on the brink of war. Outgoing naval officer Ensign Jim Avery escorts British convoys across the North Atlantic in a brand-new destroyer, the USS Atwood. Back on shore, Boston Navy Yard secretary Mary Stirling does her work quietly and efficiently, happy to be out of the limelight. Yet, despite her reserved nature, she never could back down from a challenge. When evidence of sabotage on the Atwood is found, Jim and Mary must work together to uncover the culprit. A bewildering maze of suspects emerges, and Mary is dismayed to find that even someone close to her is under suspicion. With the increasing pressure, Jim and Mary find that many new challenges--and dangers--await them.

My thoughts:
I've been a fan of Sarah Sundin's novels since I read her first novel a few years back, but I found this one a bit harder to get into. It was more about various crews in the navy and who did what which didn't capture my attention. However the intrigue and mystery around a possibly sabotuer did. The romance was semi-predictable, but still enjoyable.

Dive into Sarah Sundin's explosive new series, Waves of Freedom, with book one, Through Waters DeepWhen evidence of sabotage on the Atwood is found, Jim and Mary must work together to uncover the culprit. A bewildering maze of suspects emerges, and Mary is dismayed to find that even someone close to her is under suspicion. With the increasing pressure, Jim and Mary find that many new challenges–and dangers–await them in the midst of their budding romance.

THE LION KING comes to Philadelphia

The Lion King's Broadway show hit the Philadelphia stage this week, and I'm so glad I got to experience it. Many of you are familiar with Disney's movie, The Lion King and it's popular tunes. The Broadway version follows the same storyline with a few added scores, but it is not only for children, but adults of all ages.

Sitting in our seats I was surrounded by people of all ages, all cheering, laughing, and I saw a few dabbing at their eyes when the mood of the show grew sad. The costumes and make up are amazing, but amazing isn't a strong enough word. Stunning. Impressive. Awe-Inspiring.

The show begins with "animals" stomping down the aisles toward the stage. When I say "animals" I mean people dressed as animals, but you don't know how true to life they are until you see this show. They had animals that stood ceiling high and "birds" flying through the air. It's a truely impressive show and I think everyone should see it!

In Philadelphia, THE LION KING will play  at the Academy of Music, Tuesday through Thursday evenings at 7:30 pm, Friday and Saturday evenings at 8:00 pm, Sunday evenings at 6:30 pm, matinees Saturday at 2:00 pm and Sundays at 1:00 pm. Additional weekday matinees are scheduled for Thursday, May 21 at 2:00 pm and Thursday, June 11 at 1:00 pm.

Live Infinitely Fruit Infused Bottles

Live Infinitely Fruit Infused Water Bottles are a ton of fun. When I first got it, I experienced some leaking after I screwed the top and bottom back on, but that could have been user error. After using it a few more times I didn't have this issue. When I contacted the company about the leaking problem they promptly sent me a replacement in case there was a problem. I'm very pleased with my bottle and enjoy my fruity water. It makes me feel healthy!

I received this bottle for review but opinions expressed are 100% my own.

Motivate Your Child Action Plan (MYCAP) by Dr. Scott Turansky and Joanne Miller, RN, BSN

You will learn:
• How to build a strong conscience to strengthen internal motivation
• How faith changes kids in practical, down-to-earth ways
• Ways to help self-focused kids think of others
• A strategy to help kids who tend to blame, rationalize, or defend
• Ways to use consequences for heart change
• Specific heart-based strategies to develop responsibility and initiative

Check out the Book Trailer Here:

I've been reading this for the past week now, and it's such an eye opening book. Sure you hear all the time what you should be doing to raise good kids, but they break it down into simple things you can do. The focus is to parent your child's heart. Every behavior or problem your child is dealing with comes down to the heart. The first step is to pray for your child's heart. Pray, pray, pray! From there the book goes through many things you can do to help your child.

My son is getting mad when we don't respond to his request/question immediately he gets upset and reacts by screaming, spitting and throwing things. So when I examine the behavior the central theme is "impatience." The book breaks it down into step we can take to help him deal with this central emotion or heart issue, so we started having him count to 10 or 20 after he asked mom or dad to do something. The goal is that he will start doing this without being asked and we can prevent the immediate melt downs when we can't respond right away.

It's already making me think about how I parent and how I need to prayerfully make changes in our life to help our son progress through these difficult times.

Received a copy of this book for review, but all opinions expressed are 100% my own.

Review: The Inn at Ocean's Edge by Colleen Coble

A vacation to Sunset Cove was her way of celebrating and thanking her parents. After all, Claire Dellamore's childhood was like a fairytale. But with the help of Luke Elwell, Claire discovers that fairytale was really an elaborate lie . . .

The minute she steps inside the grand Inn at Ocean's Edge, Claire Dellamare knows something terrible happened there. She feels it in her bones. Her ensuing panic attack causes a scene, upsetting her parents. Claire attempts to quiet her nerves with a walk on the beach, to no avail. She's at too great a distance to make out details, but she believes she witnesses a murder on a nearby cliff. When local police find no evidence of foul play, they quickly write off the "nervous" woman's testimony as less than credible.

But Luke Elwell, home on leave from the Coast Guard, has reason to believe Claire. Years ago when his mother went missing, Luke's father suspected she'd been murdered. He died never having convinced the police to investigate. So when an employee of the grand hotel doesn't show up for work, Luke steps in to help Claire track down the missing woman.

As Claire and Luke put together the pieces of a decades-old mystery, they discover that some family secrets refuse to stay buried. And some passions are worth killing for.

My thoughts:
The book grabbed my attention with the first page when a girl witnesses a murder. Who wouldn't be intrigued after that? But by 2/3 of the way into the book I was predicting the end. I can't say much more without giving it away. So while it's a very captivating mystery with a twist and turn or two u can probably predict the end and the romance that ensues. I had a gew "gag me" moments when a certain character starts calling another character a pet name/term of endearment in every conversation after a WEEK of knowing them. Do people really do that? Maybe it's just me :-P. Overall, good book, and I would read more by this author.

Book Review: Perfect Peace in Imperfect Times

Perfect Peace in Imperfect Times
A 31-Day Devotional Journey
Dan Walsh

Dan Walsh, bestselling fiction author of novels like The Unfinished Gift and The Reunion, has penned his first non-fiction book. Perfect Peace is a 31-Day Devotional crafted from the pages of Dan's personal journal, written over the last several years.

Here's an excerpt from Day 2: “If you’re like me, you’ve known moments of real peace. Moments when you’ve trusted God fully for your life, for everything going on in your life. In those moments, you knew real peace. The problem is, the word ‘moments.’ The moments didn’t last. The promise of Isaiah 26:3 is not to have moments of peace in our lives. The promise is that God would keep us in Perfect Peace.”

In Perfect Peace, Dan shares the Scriptural life-lessons he's learned during some of the more challenging times in his life, hoping to encourage other Christians wrestling with things like stress, worry or fear.

ABOUT THE AUTHOR

Dan Walsh is the bestselling author of 12 novels, published by Revell and Guideposts, including The Unfinished GiftThe Reunion, and The Discovery. He has won 3 ACFW Carol Awards, 2 Selah Awards, and three times his novels have been named as finalists for RT Reviews Inspirational Novel of the Year.

For those who haven't read Dan's books, reviewers often compare him to Nicholas Sparks and Richard Paul Evans although more recently, Dan has also started to pen suspense novels, including What Follows After and When Night Comes. Dan has been writing fulltime since 2010. He and his wife Cindi have been married 38 years and have two grown children and three grandchildren. They live in the Daytona Beach area, where he grew up. You can follow him on Facebookor Twitter, read his blog, or preview all his books by visiting his website at http://danwalshbooks.com.

MY THOUGHTS

I've been a huge fan of Dan Walsh's ever since I read "The Unfinished Gift," which came out in 2009, and I've been reading all of the books he has written since this one. I can't say enough wonderful things about his books. He is also one of those authors who enjoys interacting with his fans on FB. I always appreciate when authors (or companies) take the time to get feedback from the people reading the books or using their products. It adds a personal touch. His new devotional is different from his usual genre, but as usual, I enjoyed it thoroughly.

COOKINA offers three innovative products that are a must-have for those who want to cut down the time and energy spent cleaning up in the kitchen. With the COOKINA Barbecue, Cuisine and Gard Oven Protector home cooks can simply wipe off the sheets and that’s it. It’s that simple, no mess, no stress and no hassle.

My husband and I had been using silicone baking mats for years so I decided to try these COOKINA reusable cooking sheet for a little St. Patrick's Day Fun. My son and his friend wanted to make green cookies, so we mixed them up, rolled them out, popped them on the cooking sheet (on a metal cookie sheet), and in the oven they went. As you can see from their adorable faces, the cookies (and the cooking sheet) was a success!!! They kept my cookie sheet clean, so it made for a fast clean up process, which I appreciated. The cookies also didn't burn, which is a benefit of using a cooking sheet or mat!

While they have two other products I was dying to try, sadly it is not yet grill season (snow storm just last week), but I plan to try it when the weather warms.

The COOKINA Barbecue Reusable Grilling Sheet
The COOKINA Barbecue is an innovative solution offering home cooks a non-stick, easy-clean and healthy grilling & cooking experience. Ideal for using as an alternative to aluminum foil, users can utilize this product by placing the reusable grilling sheet over the grill to cook up dishes without having to use oil or needing to clean the grill afterwards. It is available at Home Depot’s nationwide for $14.99.

COOKINA Gard Oven Protector
The COOKINA Gard Oven Protector is a toxin-free, easy-to-use product that helps home cooks keep the oven clean with minimal effort. Home cooks need not worry about cleaning the oven after each use with this product. Users can simply place the oven protector on the bottom of the oven to catch every spill and splatter for an easier clean-up, without any odor. It is available for $12.99 at www.cookina.co

COOKINA Cuisine Reusable Cooking Sheet
The COOKINA Cuisine is an innovative product that creates a nonstick, easy-to-clean and healthy cooking & baking experience. THE ILLUSIONISTS – WITNESS THE IMPOSSIBLE™ - COMES TO PHILADELPHIA BEGINNING FEBRUARY 24

THE ILLUSIONISTS - WITNESS THE IMPOSSIBLE™ is the world’s best-selling touring magic show. The show comes directly from Broadway, where it recently finished a 6-week run.   THE ILLUSIONISTS is part of the Broadway Philadelphia season, presented by the Kimmel Center for the Performing Arts and the Shubert Organization.

The seven stars, each a master in their own field, are:

·         The Manipulator, Yu Ho-Jin.  Considered a rising superstar in the world of magic; Yu Ho-Jin was recently named the 2014 “Magician of the Year,” by Academy of Magical Arts and was the first Asian to win the Grand Prix at the Fédération Internationale des Sociétés Magiques, also known as the “Olympics of Magic.”
·         The Anti-Conjuror, Dan Sperry. Described as Marilyn Manson meets David Copperfield, Dan combines the art of magic with the macabre and is one of the top-10 most Googled people, thanks to a legendary “America’s Got Talent” appearance.
·         The Trickster, Jeff Hobson is the epitome of glamour and showmanship. Don’t be fooled by his innocent appearance; Jeff has audiences laughing long after the curtain goes down.
·         The Escapologist, Andrew Basso. Italy’s star escape artist, Andrew considers Houdini his hero and is fast becoming one of the world’s most popular illusionists. He is the only person in the world to perform Houdini’s famous Water Torture Cell with absolutely no covers.
·         The Inventor, Kevin James, known for innovative illusions, is an inventor, comedian and collector of the strange and unusual. Kevin is one of the most prolific inventors of magic in the world and has created some of the most celebrated illusions of the last century.
·         The Warrior, Aaron Crow, a strong and silent type specializing in weapon magic, has mastered some of the most dangerous acts without saying a single word. Belgium’s international magic sensation, a first place finisher at the World Championships of Magic, he uses swords, paintball guns and powerful crossbows to keep fans on the edge of their seat.
·         The Futurist, Adam Trent, shatters stereotypes and brings a new generation of magic to fans fusing technology illusions, dancing and comedy with classic techniques.

If you want a night full of laughs, edge-of-your-seat moments and fun, you need to see this show! Andrew Basso had me covering my eyes, while simultaneously holding my breath, as he entered the water torture cell. The show had a smooth flow, with a great juxtaposition of comical light moments and serious, death-defying moments, but like most shows, I still had my favorites. They would be the trickster and the futurist. I'm not much of a thriller connoisseur; you could say I am a wuss, so the comical and mystifying acts were the ones I enjoyed most.

GIVEAWAY & BEAUTY REVIEW: Younique Moodstruck 3D Fiber Lashes

I had been hearing a lot about this product by Younique called Moodstruck 3D Fiber Lash mascara. People were posting photos on FB that made their lashes look 3x longer, and I'll admit, I was skeptical. I am a beauty buff and usually have to try the new products and see if they measure up to the hype, which is why I was thrilled when I was contacted to review Fiberlash Mascara.

What is Fiberlash Mascara? It's a simple three-step process combines Transplanting Gel and Natural Fibers to help create the appearance of incredible thickness and volume to your existing lashes. First step is putting on the transplanting gel which operates like regular mascara coating your lashes and defining them. The second step is the Natural Fibers. They look like the little magnetic pieces in an etch-a-sketch, but they cling to the transplant gel making your lashes look fuller and longer. Final step is another coat of the transplanting gel to bring it all together.

I found that this product is not like other mascara or products where you can use it once and it's mastered. The first time I tried it, well you'll see....

After my first attempt I had fibers all over my face [see arrows]. Since watching a tutorial video, which I'll include below, I learned that it's best to apply the fibers from the middle of your lashes up, NOT starting at the base. That was my problem. I was trying to apply them like mascara, starting at the base and through the tips. First time was a mess, second time looked okay but still not impressive, but by the third/fourth/fifth times I think I had it down. I even learned that you can apply it ones, and then go through all the steps again just at the tips for even longer lashes. Though my application is not yet perfect, it does have an impressive affect. In the future I need to work on spreading my lashes out to get a more natural look instead of "spider eyes," as I call it. You be the judge, what do you think?

Overall I'm very impressed with this product. Had I given up after my first I would have missed out on what this product was capable of. This just goes to show, practice makes progress.

Here is the tutorial video that I found to be so helpful:

Giveaway: Drainwig [no need to call a plumber!!!]

Ladies, have you ever had the issue of your drain being clogged, only to find out that a ball of your hair was the cuprit? I know I have, many times. I have been using the plastic hair catchers, but sometimes that still isn't enough, but I recently learned about a product called the Drainwig that helps to catch hair that's already gone down the drain.

It's very easy to install. It's basically a chain, with green flexible tabs, that you feed down into your drain, and an anchor or flower to sit on top of the drain. You leave it there for weeks or months, and when you remove it, you also remove the hair that's gone down the drain! My only complaint is that I couldn't use the stopper function when it was in, but it was easy enough to remove for baths and put back after I was done, that I didn't mind.

Here's more about the Drainwig:

  • Universal design fits most shower and tub drains, 100% guaranteed or your money back.
  • Hygienic: completely disposable design allows you to remove hair & debris without ever touching it!
  • Low maintenance: replace just every 2-5 months
  • Saves you money and hassle
    - no more expensive plumbing calls!

  • WIN IT: One reader will win a drainwig prize pack

    Yale Digital Door Viewer

YRL just released a new Digital Door Viewer product that not only enhances home security, it lets you skip the whole “who’s there?” routine when answering the front door using an old fashioned peephole. Essentially caller ID for the front door, Yale DigitalDoor Viewers replace a door’s standard peephole with a 3.2-inch screen to provide a clear view of who’s outside. Premium models allow you to record and store video or still images via an internal MicroSD card.

It’s a simple way to boost home security, and especially valuable for children or those in a wheelchair who typically can’t see out a door’s peephole.

I recently had the chance to review the Digital Door Viewer by Yale.  I liked several key features such as the ability to record images, the built-in LED for assisted night viewing and the sleek, clean design. This would be a helpful piece of technology for those who want an added sense of security and visually impaired individuals who may have trouble looking into a tiny peephole. It is great for our 2 year old to know who is at the door (ie grandma, mailman or stranger). He usually gets scared when someone is at the door and runs to mom [see photo], but if he could see who was on the other side, he may not be. On the contrary, there were two drawbacks such as the fact you need an existing peephole for easy installation and the door viewer remains tethered to the door.  If I am upstairs or in the basement, it would be much easier to have remote access to the door viewer instead of having to run to the door to see who is there.  Overall, I would give this three out of five stars.

    GIVEAWAY: Baby Sign Language Kit

Need a gift idea for a mom of a little one, or soon-to-be mom? How about a Baby Sign Language Kit? If you are a parent, you know how frustrating it is to try to communicate with your child before they have the language skills to tell you what they want. In our house this communication gap caused many melt downs and tears.  This is why I think that baby sign language is so important. When our son was too young to speak we taught him the sign for "more" and "all done", so that he could tell us when he was still hungry or when he was full. It worked really well. He ended up signing "more" everytime he wanted to do more of something fun, lol. But still, he got it. And now that he's almost 2, he has some language, but can still get frustrated when asking for things, so we're teaching him more sign language with the Baby Sign Language system.

In the week that we've had this kit, he's started using "more" "all done" again and learned "fan" "eat", "cat" and he is learning more every day. We have "school" time and do our sign flashcards, but I only introduce a few new cards each week so he isn't overwhelmed. He enjoys it, and I'm enjoying learning them too! I learned the sign language alphabet when I was a kid, and I still remember it. I even joined a sign language club in middle school and remember some of that too. It's nice to be able to communicate with people across the room when voices just don't cut it, or to communicate with the hearing impaired.

I've also cut up the poster provided and pasted it onto a thick posterboard so it can stand next to us when we're working on "school." He points to the one he wants me to do, and I show him how to sign that particular word. The picture instructions are really easy to follow. It not only teaches him the signs for things, but he's also learning to read the English words for things. When I sign Mommy I point to the word "mommy" so he will recognize it on paper and in sign. It's a really great system!

This would make a great gift for a mom of a 6-18 month old, or a mom who wants to teach their child to sign!

You can purchase it here: http://www.babysignlanguage.com/product/standard-kit/ or try to win it:

Maybelline - New Products on the Lineup for Fall 2014/Winter 2015

Recently I had a chance to try some of the newer products by Maybelline. I've been seeing advertisements for their dream wonder foundation, and I wanted to see if it really was all they said it was. Turns out, it is! It goes on like silk. You dab the foundation on your finger and smooth onto your skin, and instantly evens out skin tone and provides a great base for the rest of your cosmetics. I generally start with a foundation and then use a light powder to set, bronzer, blush etc, but you really don't need a powder to set this product. It goes on as a liquid, but finishes like a powder/cream. As you can see from the photo below, it blends well, leaving a natural look. So if you are a minimalist when it comes to makeup, I think this is a great product to invest in!

In addition to the foundation I had a chance to try the Eye Studio Color Tattoo Leather in Creamy Beige, but I wasn't a fan. It went on thick, and didn't look natural at all. I guess if you want a bulky eye look, this may be what you want, but it wasn't for me.

Next in line was the Master Kajal liner, which I was very impressed by. It glides on smoothly and the bold pigment leaves a dramatic look. I've just recently started lining my waterline, and trying to create a bold smokey eye, and I think I'm finally getting the hang of it! After you apply your concealer, foundation, bronzer, blush, highlighter etc next are the eyes. This is the order in which I do my eyes: 1) Thick eyeliner pencil 2) liquid eyeliner to get closer to the lash line 3) Apply dark shadow just over the eyeliner for more natural look 4) Apply medium shade eyeshadow to outer edge or eye and crease 5) apply lighter/highlight color across lids and under brows 6) Apply Mascara (try pumped up colossal mascara by maybelline).

I've had a good amount of success with this process in making my eyes appear larger. You can see the difference between photo 1 (without eye make up) and photo 2 (with).

Check out their new products for yourself now! I plan to do a beauty post on contouring my face for added impact, so stay tuned!

    GIVEAWAY: Manic Drive CD

Many thanks to Propeller Consulting, LLC for providing this prize for the giveaway. Choice of winners and opinions are 100% my own and NOT influenced by monetary compensation. I did receive a sample of the product in exchange for this review and post.

Manic Drive’s latest album VIP, which released October 14th, and I had a chance to check it out. It was a little too rocky for my taste for a few songs, but then others were more mellow and more my speed. Their music reminded me of the Ballas Hough band that I learned about a couple years back. A good combination of beat and melody.

    ABOUT THE BAND:
Manic Drive has been widely known as a Canadian band who always delivers a great show, but over the past few years and project releases, they have added to their extensive touring of Canadian and US markets multiple Billboard Top 10 & 20 singles on CHR & Christian Rock Radio. Manic Drive is clearly very intentional about reaching their generation and inspiring them to pursue a deeper walk with Christ and to get involved in changing the world they are inheriting. And they are uniquely equipped to do so. The band members, all in their early-mid twenties, have made sacrifices to pursue God’s call on their lives. Their life experience, spiritual maturity and ministry have opened doors to speak into the lives of their own generation and that is perhaps the most defining characteristic of this group of guys.

Most moms know how much stuff kids come with, and it can be hard to fit it into your purse, diaper bag, and especially your stroller. Many strollers don't have cupholders, or anywhere to put sippy cups other than the buttom bucket area, which doesn't help keep things upright. That is one reason why I like this stroller organizer. While I wasn't able to try it out, due to the weather plummiting so quickly in the northeast where I live, I love the idea of it! Another thing I like is that it fits ANY stroller, as well as on bikes and cars. If I owned a bike, I would definitely use this!

I received one or more of the products mentioned above for free using Tomoson.com. Regardless, I only recommend products or services I use personally and believe will be good for my readers.
