New Year New You Series - Skechers Shape-Ups

SKECHERS USA, Inc., a leading global footwear company, has powered into the fitness market with the launch of Shape-ups, a line of stylish, technical walking shoes designed to get you fit without setting foot in a gym. I thought this would be a terriffic product to include in the New Year New You blog series, focusing on health and fitness for 2010. Who doesn't love hearing about easier ways to get in shape?
Designed to give your body a workout, Shape-ups are ideal for anyone seeking a healthier lifestyle – whether you’re a seasoned athlete, someone working to become more fit or just casually active. The stylish, affordable footwear allows you to shape up while you walk, shop and work, incorporating fitness into your daily life. Shape-ups have a kinetic wedge midsole that simulates walking on a soft surface like sand, providing natural instability that makes you use more energy with every step. Wear Shape-ups to:

• Firm calf, thigh and buttock muscles
• Tighten abdominals
• Improve posture
• Strengthen and firm back muscles
• Alleviate stress on knee and ankle joints

Shape-ups retrain your muscles helping you walk with a positive impact and enhance the way you look and feel. Research indicates that people who have worn Shape-ups for a six week period of time during their normal activities and typical walking programs experienced an average weight loss of 3.25 pounds and 41% improvement in glutei strength

I was provided with a men's pair of Skecher's Shape ups for review, and had my husband try them out, and here are his thoughts:

"I will admit, these Shape Ups Skechers did take some getting used to at first, but after breaking them in, I was unstoppable. When I first put them on, I felt like I was rocking back and forth and it was clear that my feet were not flat on the ground, but rather arched. I wore my Skechers both when walking and running, in order to get a better sense of how they felt at different paces of movement. I definitely found myself paying more attention to my posture and standing up straighter. Besides the fact Shape Ups increase muscle tone and improve circulation, they also come standard with an antibacterial treatment to prevent odor, wick away moisture and increase breathability. I'm not proclaiming that I have foot odor, but it is definitely a plus when wearing shoes all day long in the workplace. Who knew that in 2010 I would be able to get a free work-out while working. I would especially recommend Shape Ups to those who are on their feet all day. "

Skechers also makes Shape-Up boots, and Tone-Up Flip Flops (which I am dying to try), both pictured below. So you don't have to limit yourselve to wearing sneakers all the time in order to get a work out, now you can wear Skecher's Shape Up Boots, and Tone-Up Flip Flops as well!

  1. There is a wide variety of rocker sole shoes entering the marketplace. This category of shoes is exploding, and there will no doubt be some confusion about which brand to buy. I wrote an article about rocker sole shoes that I hope will be helpful:

  2. I've heard many things about these shoes, both good and bad, but honestly, I would love to try them out myself to see what I would think of them. They are very interesting to say the least!
Thank you both for your review :D
