Holiday Hoopla Series - Great Wolf Lodge

The weather outside may be frightful, but inside Great Wolf Lodge it's so delightful! Great Wolf Lodge is a four story log-sided resort with 401 all-suite guest rooms. While there this time of year you can visit Snowland - a magical winter wonderland this holiday season inside Great Wolf Lodge! This December, the northwoods, log cabin ambiance at Great Wolf Lodge will be transformed, bringing the beauty and wonderment of the winter season indoors. As you enter the Grand Lobby, you will be embraced by the magic of the holidays. Thousands of glittering lights and icicles and hundreds of snowflakes suspend from the ceiling!

Each December Great Wolf Lodge holds their signature event called Snowland. The event kicked off on Saturday, December 5 with a tree lighting ceremony in the Grand Lobby. From December 4-25 Snowland festivities will include: Three daily snow shows inside the Grand Lobby (snow indoors...what a concept!), appearances by Santa, North Pole University for Elves, holiday carol sing-along, Santa's workshop, writing depot, wrapping depot, toy creation station, Polar Wolf Walk, Great Clock Tower holiday snow show, nightly story time with character, Rowdy the Reindeer and a Polar Bear Race inside the 84-degree indoor waterpark.

Jennifer from Great Wolf Lodge was kind enough to offer me a generous discount to come and check out the lodge and Snowland, and Chris gave us a tour when we arrived as it's a huge lodge and there's much to see. Some of you may be thinking. . . but I don't have any kids, what's there for me? Well my husband and I are in our twenties and we found plenty to do. There's the water park, the ice cream/chocolate shop, arcade, electronics room with computers, PS, Wii etc, pizza hut, starbucks, racetrack, the shop, and just wondering around the lodge can keep you occupied for hours with all the decorations. Even though I am 26 the "snow" still had me mesmerized, and who doesn't love holiday lights and decorations?

Our room was cozy and inviting with the gas fireplace, jacuzzi and king size bed. And for the guys out there...large TV's. So the TV can occupy the men for hours on end, and for the ladies there is a SPA. They even have a spa for kids called "scoops" where the treatments are ice cream flavors...kids will love it. While we didn't have a chance to try out the adult spa, I've heard great things about it.

I also wanted to mention that Great Wolf Lodge is the first – and only – national hotel chain to have all of its U.S. properties Green Seal-Certified. This involves conserving water and recycling water when able, adding recycling receptacles, using energy efficient lighting fixtures, and more. In addition to being Green Seal-Certified, they also had an unveiling of their own environmental sustainability program, Project Green Wolf. While Project Green Wolf touches every part of operations, highlights include waste minimization and recycling, energy efficiency, management of fresh water resources, environmentally & socially sensitive purchasing, and a guest education program.
