STEP 1: Buy 2 yards of fleece fabric for each side (or more if you want a super long blanket). I bought 2 yards of Mickey and 2 yards of non-pilling black fleece. Trim off any rough edges or blank fabric (such as the barcode/model # on the fabric etc.) and line up the 2 fabrics with the bright/best sides facing out, with the dullest sides facing each other.
STEP 2: Determine the length of the ties you want. I used about 2.5 inches, and cut a 2.5 x 2.5 inch square from each corner of the fabrics.
STEP 3: Cut strips into the fabric, 0.5 to 1 inch width each, on all 4 sides of cutting inward about 2.5 inches in length.
STEP 4: As you're cutting the strips into each side, tie every 3-5 strips just to keep the fleece pieces lined up.
STEP 5: Once all strips are cut all around the blanket, finish tying the knots and you've got a fleece knotted blanket.Enjoy!
how cute,,that is something I could actually make,,ive got 2 new grandbabies on the way that i could make one each for
ReplyDeleteThanks for the tutorial. I've seen these kinds of blankets and always wanted to try it. My friend is having a baby soon and I'd love to make one for her!
ReplyDeleteWe make custom fleece blankets at our house as gifts. They're pretty easy and people love them.
ReplyDeleteI saw this project on your Pinterest board and looked fun so checked it out. I like the edge strips instead of stringy yarn or something smaller that gets tangled.
ReplyDeleteI like this edging since it is not prone to snagging and love the Mickey print too!
