When we first started our adoption journey we were open to adopting a child from any race, but in preparing for our future child, we had a hard time finding books with multi-ethnicities featured. Many books were all Caucasian children, and we were mostly certain we would end up with a child who was not white, so we started our search for some quality kids books that took this into consideration, one of which being Shoebox Sam...

Each book focuses on a life lesson, and I may not have always applied these lessons growing up, but I think they have real value in teaching children how to treat others and how to make wise decisions. Cartoon books are easier to find in "race-friendly" varieties, especially when the main characters are animals :).
Zondervan publishes some really great family-friendly books that I can't wait to read to our little one, as he continues to grow!
