Romance/Getaway Series - Sayre Mansion

Located in the heart of Bethlehem, this meticulously restored Lehigh Valley inn offers luxury and comfort in 19 classic mansion guestrooms and three spacious Carriage House suites. Century old trees adorn the two acres of picturesque grounds, which provide a beautiful setting for outdoor affairs on the terrace or simple relaxation. Sayre Mansion offers all the amenities of a modern hotel with a blend of old-world elegance and full corporate services. Each beautifully restored room is unique in design and appearance, but all come with a full, hearty breakfast and the gracious attention of our Bethlehem bed and breakfast's staff.

Each room is uniquely decorated, and they all look beautiful. We had a chance to stay in the libraby which features a large bedroom and a separate sitting room/library with the original vaulted ceiling and chandelier, this literary haven today contains two floor-to-ceiling bookshelves and a gas fireplace surrounded in marble. The bedroom offers a king bed, dresser with mirror, arm chair, cable TV, and a high-backed red loveseat.

Below is the Mansion decorated for the holidays. It was not decorated like this when I was there, but it looks even more beautiful with this festive decor:

What is there to do in Bethlehem, PA?
There's plenty to do!

For the kids there is the Crayola Factory, Dutch Springs and Crystal Cave, skiing and snowtubing during the winter months and much more.
For the grown-up's there is the Allentown Farmer's Market, the shops of downtown Bethlehem, fine dining, Hawk Mountain Sanctuary and much more!

My Thoughts:

Accommodations/Decor: This beautiful brick mansion has so much to offer, not only in accommodation, but also in the decor. The interior is tastefully decorated with beautiful hardwood flooring and fireplace in the sitting room where you can relax by the fire, read the local newspaper or magazines, or just hang out. I would give this 4.5 stars!

Cuisine: The Sayre Mansion is a bed and breakfast, so all of their guests can enjoy a delicious breakfast each morning. Breakfast consists of fresh baked goods such as banana bread or pumpkin chocolate chip bread along with fresh fruits, yogurt and cereal. In addition to all of this they have warm entrees each morning such as bacon and sausage, pancakes and quiche. The menu varies each day, but both day we were there the food was delicious. I would give this 4.5 stars.

Location: A short drive from Lehigh University, St. Luke's Hospital, Historic Downtown Bethlehem, and all the attractions and activities of the Lehigh Valley. Also, five minutes from the Lehigh Valley International Airport and 90 minutes from NYC, Philadelphia and the Poconos. This is the perfect location for a wedding, romantic getaway, or just a retreat for yourself. The Sayre Mansion is close to shopping, restaurants, and spa's for pampering, but also not far from colleges/universities so it's a great location for parents to stay while visiting children at school. I would give this 4 stars out of 5.

Customer Service: Some of the things to note about this location is that it offers more than a "typical" bed & breakfast. Here are some examples of how this is more than a B&B. 1) the rooms had televisions in each room and Wifi. 2) They gave guests the option to have breakfast in bed 3) A staff member was on call 24/7 4) They offered wake-up calls 5) A very friendly bichon frise [dog] makes the rounds occasionally. We stayed during daylight savings time, and they slipped a reminder under our door to set the clocks back, and it added the personal touch that I really appreciate. I would give this 5 stars!

  1. I especially love the library and the first picture with the Sayre Mansion all lit up. If I were in Pennsylvania (visiting), I'd love to visit this place. Looks very relaxing and I love its restoration.

    TY!
