Adoption Countdown

We were matched with a little boy, due March 18th. :-D pregnancy calendar

Funding Our Adoption

My husband and I are adopting a baby from the US and it's a very costly process, so if you or anyone you know is willing to help, we would greatly appreciate it! To Donate by Check: Any checks should be made out to International CARE, Inc. and mailed to: I CARE PO BOX 1603 Bel Air, Maryland 21014 NOTE: Please DO NOT write our name in the memo line as the IRS does not like that. Just enclose a brief note with Melinda & Sean on it. To Pay by Credit Card/Paypal: Go to to http://www.intlcare.org/ and go to the Helping Us page. Specify in the note section that the donation is for Sean and Melinda's adoption. Any amount helps. Thank you!

Home Renovation/Redesign Series #6- Guide to a Joyful Move

I recently found out about something called, The Guide to a Joyful Move, by Bonnie Joy Dewkett. It has so many helpful hints and things that are often overlooked with planning a move.

Things I liked about this Guide:
1. Listed who to contact to change your address
2. Included a Calendar where I could write in what we would be doing each day, when we would be moving and all other move-related details
3. The guide listed who to contact if you are moving yourself, a list of van/truck rental companies. I had only heard of two of the 5 she listed.
4. Interior/Exterior Preparation List – listed the parts of each room and what needed to be done to it. For example it said “Window Molding – Paint White”, “Clogged Drain – needs Drano”

“not for reprint, copyrighted material"

5. Emergency Kit List- Things to have on hand in case you ever need them like waterproof matches and a manual can opener.
6. List of daily activities for everyone in the family. My husband and I were constantly making lists of what we needed to do each day and by what time. It was a huge help!

They also offer email consultations to make the move process as smooth as possible. During the email consultation the client emails Bonnie Joy dewlett photos of their worst space and telling her a little about it. (She asks them questions to prompt their thinking.) She then provide suggestion on how to organize, products to use etc.

Bonnie also offers organizing your student, Personal Shopping tips, organization for empty nesters and so much more!

Basement Dwellers

For the past 3+ weeks my husband and I have been living on two twin beds in the basement of the home we purchased back in June because we have not been able to finish the work on the second floor of the home and the first floor is covered with boxes upon boxes upon more boxes, amidst our furniture.

And to make the scenario even more interesting, last weekend our basement flooded. So our bedroom is now a swimming pool, well not really, but the other half got about an inch of water during the heavy downpours in our area . . . Luckily we had a Ridgid wet/dry vac and our sump-pump kicked in, but now our entire basement is damp (and already has some mold growing...yikes), and is a breeding ground for bugs, which explains all the bug bites.

Let me say without hesitation that I cannot wait for our bedroom to be finished next weekend!
