Basement Dwellers

For the past 3+ weeks my husband and I have been living on two twin beds in the basement of the home we purchased back in June because we have not been able to finish the work on the second floor of the home and the first floor is covered with boxes upon boxes upon more boxes, amidst our furniture.

And to make the scenario even more interesting, last weekend our basement flooded. So our bedroom is now a swimming pool, well not really, but the other half got about an inch of water during the heavy downpours in our area . . . Luckily we had a Ridgid wet/dry vac and our sump-pump kicked in, but now our entire basement is damp (and already has some mold growing...yikes), and is a breeding ground for bugs, which explains all the bug bites.

Let me say without hesitation that I cannot wait for our bedroom to be finished next weekend!

  1. Oh the joys of home ownership!! I remember the same type of things happening when we bought The Hubs parents' house in New England in 1996, it was built in 1939... such fun!
Good luck with the rest of repairs.
