Beware of the Doghouse + $100 JCP Gift Card Giveaway - CLOSED

Have you ever been given a gift and been surprised by what was inside? Was it unexpected? Have you ever not been able to decide on a gift, and you end up getting something that someone doesn’t like? JCPenney made it easy on all of us women with their brand new website Beware of The Doghouse. The Beware of The Doghouse website allows women to put their significant other in the “doghouse” for bad gift choices.

My husband has had his fair share of hits and misses with gift giving, but it's the thought that counts, right? I once got a life size blow up photo of my ex boyfriend and I as a gift. What on Earth was I supposed to do with that? My mom suggested using it as a dartboard haha.

JCPenney has provided me with one $100 gift card to help keep you out someone out of the doghouse.

Follow These Rules To Enter:
1) Tell me the one gift that put you in the doghouse
2) Follow @melindajoy926 and tweet this giveaway and leave me the twitter comment link

  2. Several years ago, I got my mom this really awesome sweater that I thought she would love. I took time to wrap it and everything. On Christmas morning she opened it, looked at the tag, and then informed me it was a maternity sweater. I felt horrible, but we did get a good laugh. It has taught me to always check which dept. I am shopping in. It was a great thought, and that is what really counts. Right?

  10. One gift that put me in the doghouse, was a goody basket I made up for my niece who was away at college. It contained deodorants, toothpastes, and a bunch of other health care products. She wasn't thrilled with the basket at all and took it as an insult. I later spoke to her and explained that I thought that she would have enjoyed this gift. Oh well, she only get small cash gifts from me now.
Thanks so much for this great giveaway and Happy Holidays.

This year I mentioned that I wanted a Crock-Pot (it's kind of expensive) and he FLAT OUT REFUSES to purchase anything that goes in the kitchen, made for cooking, etc. for a Christmas gift. LOL I must have left an impression...and no, I didn't hit him with the skillet, but I wanted too!

  54. Well... I don't think I have given a gift that has ever put me in the doghouse... but my husband on the other hand... Went on a work trip to Cleveland Ohio for a week and he always brings me a gift when he goes on trips... but he didn't get to leave the conference center much, so he did the best he could I guess. He brought me - a postcard, a coffee cup (I don't drink coffee) and a tshirt that was too small... He thought he did good, but I wasn't very happy.

  147. My sister always oversleeps through her morning classes. So, I gave her a special alarm clock that shakes the bed to wake her up. She was not pleased. She still gets mad about it, a year later, but I do know for a fact that she uses it!

  157. When I was younger I bought my mom this glass ball with swirly colors - it was supposed to hang in the window. I thought it was beautiful. Unfortunately there was a tag on it explaining that it was called a "witch ball" and its historical purpose was to keep witches away... Eek!

  169. I can't think of a gift that I gave that completely bombed but I can remember a card I 'made' my mother for mothers day...

I say made because I folded a piece of paper in half and that was the whole card-I thought it was genius because it symbolized the fact that no words could explain how much I loved and appreciated her, which I told her when I presented my genius present all teary eyed and everything.

Well she looked at me like I had gone nuts and said very nicely, 'Uh. Thank....you?' LOL
