Perfect Summer - Movie Review

I recently learned about a new family-friendly movie called Perfect Summer. It is a movie about a boy that who loses his father and receives a mentor in his grandfather who teaches him how to surf.  The boy and his mom relocate to a small town where all there is to do is surf and talk about surfing, but the boy doesn't surf, so his grandfather comes to his rescue. The movie features Jason Castro from American Idol.

Overall it was a good movie. Some of the acting was less than amazing, but the storyline made up for that. I am generally not a fan of "Christian" movies because of the less than par acting and poorly written scripts, but I enjoyed this film for the most part. The acting by the girlfriend and the grandfather was great, while the main mother/son combo was lacking. The storyline was believable enough that it could happen in real life. It didn't have a schmaltzy Hollywood ending which I appreciated. All in all, an enjoyable film.
