Have I mentioned lately how much I LOVE Dan Walsh's novels? Every single book of his that I've started, I couldn't put down, and What Follows After was no exception. What is this book about, you ask? The book description is below:
In October 1962, Colt Harrison and his little brother, Timmy, hatched a plan. They would run away from their Florida home, head for their aunt's house in Savannah, Georgia, and refuse to come home until their parents got back together. But things go terribly, terribly wrong. Colt's mother and father must come to grips with years of neglect and mistrust in order to recover their beloved sons, their love for one another, and their broken marriage.
The novel starts with a man who received a lake house from someone's will, but it obviously has bad memories, but the reader doesn't know why. As the story unfolds we learn about Timmy and Colt's decision to runwaway from home and all that resulted from that decision. I really felt for the kids who just wanted to see their parents get back together. So often kids are the ones who are hurt by parents' decision to split up. They don't understand. I also could empathize for Gina and Scott when their son went missing. I know I've only been a mom for 15 months, but I can only imagine the sheer terror a parent feels when their child goes missing. This book was so full of emotion, suspense, highs and lows, and I loved it!
Many thanks to Baker Publishing for an advanced copy of this book to review!
