GIVEAWAY: ShirleyJ - Bakery Line

If you haven't figured it out already, I LOVE to bake and try out new product and recipes. I find it so intriguing how flavors and products come together to make delicious (or awful) combinations. I'm always on the lookout for fun ways to spice up my recipe repoitoir or add in new products to my weekly menus. Recently I had the chance to add some products to my menu like Shirley J's biscuit mix, brownie mix, as well as their muffin & cake mix.

I tried out was the biscuit mix.  You can use this mix in hundreds of applications that complement any meal, side dish or dessert. Make traditional biscuits and gravy, savory casserole toppings, dumplings, fried chicken, scones or shortcake. Sadly, neither my husband or I were a fan of. We used this mix to make traditional biscuits to go with a chicken and gravy dinner. They were completely devoid of flavor. It was like eating baked flour, in my opinion. If had to make them over again, I would have added in some chives, bacon bits and cheddar cheese to spice them up. I tried to eat them with butter and strawberry jam, but still that didn't cut it. I was disappointed, as I love biscuits.

They also have a muffin and cake mix. You can use this to make any style or flavor of muffin by simply adding your favorite mix-ins. Or, for a decadent, moist, home-style cake, simply add a few eggs. It's a great base to make any kind of muffin or cake you want! I love adding fresh chopped fruit when it's in season to make fruity muffins, but chocolate chips or cinnamon chips are also great add-ins.

WIN IT:  Shirley J Prize Pack including - muffin and cake mix, buttermilk pancake mix, oatmeal jumble cookie mix ,ginger molasses cookie mix and classic sugar cookie mix.
