Redeeming Love - by Francine Rivers
California’s gold country, 1850. A time when men sold their souls for a bag of gold and women sold their bodies for a place to sleep.
Angel expects nothing from men but betrayal. Sold into prostitution as a child, she survives by keeping her hatred alive. And what she hates most are the men who use her, leaving her empty and dead inside.
Then she meets Michael Hosea.
A man who seeks his Father’s heart in everything, Michael Hosea obeys God’s call to marry Angel and to love her unconditionally. Slowly, day by day, he defies Angel’s every bitter expectation until, despite her resistance her frozen heart begins to thaw. But with her unexpected softening come overwhelming feelings of unworthiness and fear. And so Angel runs. Back to the darkness, away from her husband’s pursuing love, terrified of the truth she can no longer deny: Her final healing must come from the One who loves her even more than Michael Hosea does…the One who will never let her go.

Redeeming Love by Francine Rivers (Chapter 1)
My Thoughts:
This book was recommended to me by a friend of mine with very similar reading tastes as me, so I knew it would be fantastic, but the number of pages was daunting, as I was not a very avid reader at the time. As soon as I picked up the book I couldn't put it down. Although I have never dabbled in the realm of prostitution, I felt Angel's pain, fear and confusion. She couldn't grasp the concept that a man would want to spend time with her without wanting something in return, but that is exactly what Michael Hosea did. He felt led to love her like Christ loves her and to get her out of this situation she was in. I was compelled to keep reading until the very last page.

Can you have too many shoes?
I think what guys are missing is the fact that women tend to live in boots in the winter. I wear skirts and dresses almost every week day with tights and boots. They're warm and comfortable, and fashionable. It would be easy to stop shopping after 2 pairs if there were only 2 types, but there aren't. There are flats, wedge heels, ankle boots, calf high boots, knee high and over-the-knee boots, which are all used for different looks and different settings. For example, you don't wear casual boots with pom pom's to the office, but you would wear them on the weekends. Another example is my rain boots, which are strictly for puddle filled days, but not for a night out on the town. So there are different looks and occasions, not to mention color schemes. You wouldn't wear black boots with a brown outfit, or blue boots with a black outfit, would you? If you want a dressier look you go with a heel or wedge, and for casual go with the sweater type boots or flat boots.
Shoes and boots are not just footwear, but they are accessories to an outfit, and unlike men, women can never have enough.
By now you are either nodding your head in agreement, or thinking that I need to join shoppers anonymous...feel free to leave comments with your thoughts.
