Kent Island Crab Cakes

About Kent Island Crab Cakes:
"We are sons of the third generation blessed to have been raised in the watershed of the Chesapeake Bay – the largest estuary in the United States. The Chesapeake is home to the Blue Crab (Callinectes sapidus), which is arguably the finest crab meat in the world used to make Maryland style jumbo lump crab cakes. We've worked right alongside each other for almost 20 years and observed that even though most customers are driven by low prices, there are always some customers who are driven by quality. Kent Island Crab Cakes are for those who seek quality crab cakes made exclusively from crab meat of the Blue Crab – as much as possible from the Chesapeake Bay. We learned that growing a business too large or too fast just to attain more sales puts a strain on product quality. We will not make that mistake. Our goal is to limit sales to those customers who demand the finest crab cakes available, made by hand right here in Maryland and those who understand why some seafood products are "market priced."

My Thoughts:
I should preface this review with telling you that crab is my all-time favorite food in the world. There is nothing i enjoy more than cracking open steamed crab legs and working to get a huge chunk of solid crab meat from it...it's time well spent in my opinion! I was beyond thrilled to have a chance to review Kent Island Crab Cakes. So having said that I'm a crab enthusiast (which is putting it lightly) I should also say that I'm a crab snob. I don't like it when crab cakes taste like filler or peppers or like sea water...they should taste like real crab, and I was so happy that these did. Kent Island Crab Cakes have large chunks of crab meat, so that is all that I tasted, and loved every bite of it. The only drawback was that they fell apart after sitting on my place for a bit of time (and after being turned over several times in a frying pan), but honestly that didn't phase me at all, because I was enjoying them so much. It could have been how they were prepared that made them fall apart, but my motto is that it tastes the same regardless of the presentation :). I would buy these again in a heartbeat!

...and don't be fooled by the name. They carry MUCH more than crab cakes like - Apple Pie, Meat Lasagna, Steaks & Chicken and more!
