Romance/Getaway Series - Australian Walkabout Inn B & B

About the Inn:The Australian Walkabout Inn Bed and Breakfast is a peaceful, romantic getaway located in the heart of Amish Country in Lancaster County. Whether it is a special anniversary weekend or a trip to the local outlets, you will experience a unique blend of Pennsylvania Dutch hospitality and luxurious accommodations at The Walkabout.

About the Innkeepers:
For years they’ve wanted to own a bed & breakfast, but the dream was always for ‘someday’. It wasn’t until early 2006 when staying at a B&B in Washington, VA that they began to think about that dream as a reality, and on August 21, 2007 they moved from DC to PA and welcomed their first guests three days later.

My husband and I were invited to come and stay at the Australian Walkabout Inn B &B, and we were thoroughly impressed. Walking in we were greeted by Lynne, the hostess and owner of this beautiful Inn. She was very friendly and helpful, and ready to answer any of our questions. We were then taken up to our room with plush accommodations and we were NOT disappointed. Our room had a canopy bed, setee, private bathroom, and a sun porch in the adjoining room which had a hot tub and fire place ready and waiting to relieve the stresses of the day.

Some of the unique aspects of this B&B are that they provide fresh cookies each day, they are kid-friendly, which is rare in the B&B world, having a trampoline in the backyard for children and adults to enjoy, and the decor is lovely as the floral and lace is not overly present, which gives this B&B an updated, yet cozy feel. The hosts, Lynn and Bob, take an interest in getting to know their guests, which I really appreciate. One night while we were there both Lynne and Bob sat and talked with us for about 1.5 hours, discussing their lives and sharing stories about visitors who have passed through the inn, from all over. It was fascinating to learn about where they have come from and how they ended up here. As a family who was previously serving in full time ministry, this Inn is now their way to give back, as they obviously have the gift of hospitality!
