Beware of the Doghouse + $100 JCP Gift Card Giveaway - CLOSED

Have you ever been given a gift and been surprised by what was inside? Was it unexpected? Have you ever not been able to decide on a gift, and you end up getting something that someone doesn’t like? JCPenney made it easy on all of us women with their brand new website Beware of The Doghouse. The Beware of The Doghouse website allows women to put their significant other in the “doghouse” for bad gift choices.

My husband has had his fair share of hits and misses with gift giving, but it's the thought that counts, right? I once got a life size blow up photo of my ex boyfriend and I as a gift. What on Earth was I supposed to do with that? My mom suggested using it as a dartboard haha.

JCPenney has provided me with one $100 gift card to help keep you out someone out of the doghouse.

Follow These Rules To Enter:
1) Tell me the one gift that put you in the doghouse

  2. Several years ago, I got my mom this really awesome sweater that I thought she would love. I took time to wrap it and everything. On Christmas morning she opened it, looked at the tag, and then informed me it was a maternity sweater. I felt horrible, but we did get a good laugh. It has taught me to always check which dept. I am shopping in. It was a great thought, and that is what really counts. Right?

  10. One gift that put me in the doghouse, was a goody basket I made up for my niece who was away at college. It contained deodorants, toothpastes, and a bunch of other health care products. She wasn't thrilled with the basket at all and took it as an insult. I later spoke to her and explained that I thought that she would have enjoyed this gift. Oh well, she only get small cash gifts from me now.
Thanks so much for this great giveaway and Happy Holidays.

  27. I don't think I've ever given a gift that has put me in the doghouse, however, my husband has been there! One year he gave me a skillet. Ummmm, yeah. That's not a Christmas present...and I let him know it.

This year I mentioned that I wanted a Crock-Pot (it's kind of expensive) and he FLAT OUT REFUSES to purchase anything that goes in the kitchen, made for cooking, etc. for a Christmas gift. LOL I must have left an impression...and no, I didn't hit him with the skillet, but I wanted too!

  47. Well... I don't think I have given a gift that has ever put me in the doghouse... but my husband on the other hand... Went on a work trip to Cleveland Ohio for a week and he always brings me a gift when he goes on trips... but he didn't get to leave the conference center much, so he did the best he could I guess. He brought me - a postcard, a coffee cup (I don't drink coffee) and a tshirt that was too small... He thought he did good, but I wasn't very happy.

This year we are not exchanging gifts, but we have planned this as we cannot afford to give each other anything of monetary value.

  154. I can't think of a gift that I gave that completely bombed but I can remember a card I 'made' my mother for mothers day...

I say made because I folded a piece of paper in half and that was the whole card-I thought it was genius because it symbolized the fact that no words could explain how much I loved and appreciated her, which I told her when I presented my genius present all teary eyed and everything.

Well she looked at me like I had gone nuts and said very nicely, 'Uh. Thank....you?' LOL

  171. I think I give great gifts because I make an effort to gift what I know people will need and use. But one of my DILs is always in the doghouse with her gift selections! One year she gave me a pair of PJs that weren't even close to my size. My granddaughter needed PJs so I shared them with her.

  177. Well, my sisters always "borrowed" (more like stole) my clothes, my hair straightener, my makeup, etc. when I still lived at home before I got married. So, last Christmas I bought them each a nice hair straightener, only to find out that they don't even use them. I give up :/

  180. One gift that put me in the doghouse:

One year I gave my sister a vintage suede cowboy vest with matted up faux fur lining. She was big into country music at the time and I naively thought she would love it. She didn't and had never let me forget it.

    OOOps!
