Gift Ideas Gallore!

So I recently came across a site called Uncommon Goods, which has some really unique gift ideas, but if you're not in the market for a gift, they have home decor/fashion/culinary items and more for yourself. Why not?

As the Summer turns to Fall, holiday shopping season is not that far away. It's never too early to start thinking of ideas for the people on your shopping list. And if you don't celebrate Christmas, then consider this a great place to find an assortment of anniversary gifts and personalized gifts.
Below is a little information about this company.

"Founded in 1999 and
headquartered in Brooklyn, New York, UncommonGoods is a privately-owned retailer that endeavors to feature unique jewelry, designer dΓ©cor, tabletop items, and handcrafted gifts created in harmony with the environment without harm to animals or people. We run all our operations out of the historic Brooklyn Army Terminal, where the lowest-paid seasonal worker starts at 50% above the minimum wage. We make it our mission to support and provide a platform for artists and designers; in fact, half of what we sell is made by hand. Most of the jewelry products, home dΓ©cor and table top items we carry are created right here in the USA, and about one-third of our entire collection incorporates recycled and/or upcycled materials. At the core of our company is a great respect for the integrity of the creative individual and the belief that it is our responsibility to use our business to impact the world in a positive way."

I was particularly interested in the gifts for book lovers, like the "Novel Teas," which combines two loves of mine: books and tea! Each tea bag has a quote from a famous novel. It can't get any better than that. They also have a wide assortment of bookends from cats to elephants, to demolition equipment, to bicycles, so you can find one that suits your likes and personal style. They have so many fun and unique gift ideas, I'd definitely check it out when making your holiday shopping lists!

And what makes this company even greater is their customer service, and that they give back to the community! First, UncommonGoods has been awarded for outstanding customer service every year since 2007. In 2015, they

achieved the BizRate Platinum Circle of Excellence award, their highest achievement level yet. Second,  as an independently-owned business, they have the freedom to support causes they believe in and to impact the world in a positive way. With every purchase you make, they donate $1 to the non-profit of your choice. Since they started the Better to Give program 12 years ago, they’ve donated over $1Million to charities around the world!

GIFT IDEA: Homedics Shiatsu Air Pro Foot Massager with Heat

I know in our family, the guys are the hardest to buy gifts for, which is why I was glad to check out a product I think that men and women would both enjoy, so it would make a great gift for anyone! Keep reading for my husband's thoughts on this homedics foot massager...

After a long day on my feet, I look forward to coming home and kicking my feet up…or shall I say having my feet pampered?  I have tried other foot massagers in the past and found that they had one thing in common; the kneading action was either not deep enough or too deep to the point of painful.

The Homedics Shiatsu Air Pro Foot Massager with Heat delivers on the fact that it not only offers deep kneading, but it is also incorporates air compression and heat when selected.  The kneading and air compression each have three different settings to meet the needs of each individual.  In addition, the unit is lightweight and can easily be moved.  The description does indicate that the massager offers a full coverage experience – heel to toe and top to bottom.  This is an area where I would have to disagree.  The massager never reached my heel.  I do have a size 12 foot for those who are wondering.  I tried shifting my foot around; however, the massager failed to reach my heel.

Overall, I am satisfied with this product and feel that it does the job.  I would give it 7 out of 10 stars due to the limited coverage.

If you would like to find out more, or find out where to buy, visit: http://www.homedics.com/shiatsu-air-pro-foot-massager-with-heat.html

Flowers = Perfect holiday gift!

 About the Bouqs:
"Our flowers never sit in a corner store or a dingy warehouse (where they send you the oldest, most-dead flowers they have in the fridge), and they never show up in a van with a 1-800 number on the side. We ship straight from an active volcano where they are grown or from the sunny surf of California, seriously - we’re putting a little romance back in the Bouq. We also cut only what we sell. Other providers source from a supply chain that sees 1 in 3 stems wasted. Across hundreds of thousands of bouquets a year, that’s a lot of wasted land, resources, labor and fuel. We cut only when you order, so we avoid the waste. Finally, our farms provide living wages, childcare, healthcare and adult education. And our growing business supports farm communities, so you can feel good about shopping The Bouqs Company's flowers."

If you aren't already convinced that this is a great company how about I share my experience with you. I decided to order a bouq for my birthday. I realize this sounds a bit silly, but I love getting flowers, so why not, right? They arrived in the morning and were immediately cut and put into water. The rose buds were closed, but by the next day they were open and absolutely gorgeous. While I didn't intend for them to match my kitchen, they ended up doing so, being yellow with red tips. Lovely!

Even the celebrities are raving about them!!!

If you are looking for a site that offers beautiful bouquets for a loved one in your life, try Bouqs today. Holiday flowers are a great way to say "I'm thinking of you" when you can't be there in person for the holidays. Order them today!

Clutchette Power by Chic Buds

With Clutchette Power by Chic Buds, phone charging convenience is in the bag…literally! Inside each Clutchette is a lightweight, ultrathin battery to recharge smart phones and USB devices on-the-go.  So light it’s practically undetectable! Featuring built-in USB cords for an easy charging of both phone and Clutchette, it’s always ready for a charging emergency and provides most smart phones with a full charge. Plus, with its chic design and room for keys, lip gloss, and other essentials,

  • Wristlet included inside
  • 2600mAh (as much as 1 full charge for a smartphone)
  • Battery life indicator lights
  • Removable and rechargeable battery
  • 2 USB cords included
  • Compatibility: smartphones and USB devices
  • Fits phone inside

For long days when I am nannying from morning until night, or the days when I'm running around with my kids and unable to recharge my phone it's nice to have a product like this handy. However, it's only helpful if you have the phone charging cord with you. My husband and I share one wall iphone charger, so I rarely take it from home. In this case, the clutchette isn't helpful for me as I didn't have the charge cord for the phone. If the standard usb cord would fit directly into the phone it would be fantastic, but since it doesn't I don't find it helpful. For people who have the charger with them at all times and just need a USB for power, this is what you need!

If you'd like to try it, head on over here: http://chicbuds.com/clutchette-power-emma.html#.VDA8Q_ldWoM

Smart Scissors

Multi Purpose Scissors

The multi-functional Smart Sizzors by AnySharp are no ordinary scissors.  NOt only are they perfect for the kitchen they are multi-functional sizzors have a bottle opener, nut cracker, and garlic crusher.  What is more, they are ambidextrous and even strip wire and cut through tough material, so these are perfect for any room in your home.

Made with professional grade hardened steel blades, these guys will not break the bank and are a great kitchen accessory…..or gift for dad, cook, or hobbyist!
MSRP $24 at www.anysharp.com

These scissors are sharp!  I used them in the garden last week while I was pruning bushes and flowers.  They were easy to use, did not stick (like my other clippers) and clearly not made of cheap materials. They fit comfortably in my hand and the bright color made them stand out in the grass.  When in the garden, I feel like I am always on a hunt to find random garden tools I left somewhere. I was not only impressed by the weight and quality of these scissors, but also the many functions it serves.

Own a piece of the Eiffel Tower in a Necklace or Bracelet

The Eiffel Tower is undeniably the world’s most famous and beloved landmark, immediately recognized the world over. More than 250,000,000 fortunate visitors have seized the opportunity to experience the Grande Dame of Paris up close and personal, though the vast majority have availed themselves of the convenience afforded by elevators to ascend the tower’s heights.

In 1983, the spiral staircase was removed from the Eiffel Tower to address safety and structural concerns. The spiral staircase was sub-divided into twenty-four segments, one of which remains at the first level of the Eiffel Tower today, still sporting its original coat of vermilion red paint!

The owner sold one segment (lower portion) in June of 2011 through renowned auction house Christie’s (with provenance cited as the Ader-Picard-Tajan auction, Vente de L’escalier de la Tour Eiffel, 1 December 1983, Paris).
Korbella™ acquired their companion (upper portion) segment from the same seller in late 2011.

Korbella™ has diligently maintained control and oversight of the staircase throughout the process of creating the beautiful Eiffel Tower Forever jewelry collection. Each limited production piece of the Eiffel Tower Forever jewelry collection acquired through Korbella™ will include a certificate of authenticity.

Korbella Eiffel Tower Jewelry puts a piece of Eiffel Tower around your neck or wrist. What a neat idea, especially for a holiday gift.

I am obsessed with all things French or Paris-related, and I was thrilled to have a chance to own a piece of the Eiffel Tower via Korbella's necklace. They're beautiful, and the story behind the jewelry is so enchanting. It's romantic and perfect for the person in your life who loves to travel. What a beautiful souvenir!

This jewelry can be purchased online at www.korbella.com

Many thanks to korbella for providing this necklace for review.

Kushyfoot Products

Kushyfoot offers an entire line of socks, tights, slip on shoes, and athletic socks that provide additional cushion to soften the impact on your feet.

The black sock to the left is their Ultra Low Cut Foot Covers with the most discreet coverage ever! An extra toe cushion and a comfort heel pad to protect the back of your foot and keep the product to stay secure in your shoes. 3 packs of 2 pairs per order Assorted Pack includes 1 pair nude, 1 pair black.

I think these are great products because my feet often get sore when wearing my heels all day long, and this provide some much-needed relief to my tired feet and toes. I also like wearing their tights because they're warm, but the extra cushion helps my feet stay in my shoes instead of slipping out (as most tights tend to make me do).

Just slip your feet into their products, walk around and allow your feet to be pampered.

LeChat Holiday set

A must this holiday are these adorable festive sets with coordinating decals. The seasonal polishes are the colors your clients will ask for, and the decals not only make perfect stocking stuffers, but are frighteningly delightful!

I wore this glitter polish proudly! I don't think that glitter is for the youth; I think it is for anyone who wants to add more fun and sparkle to the holiday season (or anytime)!

Holiday Gift Idea: Capresso Espresso/Capuccino Machine

I recently had the chance to review the Capresso 4-cup Espresso/Cappuccino Machine. I found the machine very easy to use, even for the directionally challenged individual. Here are my pros and cons:

Pros
1) The machine has clearly marked pictures to assist the user
2) Do not have to worry about dealing with buttons and other forms of modern technology, sometimes simplicity is a good thing
3) Does not take up a lot of counter space
4) The steam pipe folds into the machine

Cons
1) The steam knob is on the side of the machine, would be helpful if located closer to the front
2) Cannot tell how much water is remaining in machine

Overall, I am satisfied with this product. It is simple, yet gets the job done. It is definitely worth the value, when compared to other cappuccino machines on the market.

Romance/Getaway Series - Teleflora

About Teleflora (from their website):

"At Teleflora, we're proud to have been connecting customers with the nation's best florists for more than 75 years. All of our floral arrangements are professionally arranged by a local florist using only the freshest flowers available, and each gift is personally delivered in a vase - in most cases, the same day you place your order - to ensure that it arrives in premium condition, ready to be enjoyed immediately.

As a service organization rather than a florist, Teleflora makes it easy to select beautiful florist-delivered products by investing in the most modern technology, seeking continuous innovation and improvement in services, and providing the best people in the business to ensure your confidence that your order will be placed easily and filled by a Teleflora florist quickly and professionally to your complete satisfaction.

Headquartered in Los Angeles, California, Teleflora has over 18,000 member florists throughout the U.S. and Canada, with an additional 20,000 affiliated florists outside North America. This extensive network, coupled with our commitment to exceptional customer service, means that when you send flowers from Teleflora, you can be confident that you’re sending the best."

I was sent the beautiful bouquet below to review. It arrived at my work, which is always lovely, because everyone who walks by my desk stops to admire them. It had gerbera daisies, roses and some other brightly colored flowers - the perfect combination of scent and bold colors. Exactly what a gray cubicle needs to add a pop of color and fragrence. This bouquet is called the Rainbow Pitcher bouquet, and can be found in their "Mother's Day - May 9th" section, along with some other gorgeous arrangements. It arrived on Wednesday, and I was out of the office Friday through Sunday, and when I got back to the office Monday, it still looked beautiful. I have gotten bouquets in the past (not from Teleflora) that wilted within a few days, and shriveled away to nothing within 4 days, which is disappointing, but I'm happy to report that was not the case with this bouquet.

Thanks to the generous people at Teleflora, ONE of my readers will have a chance to win a bouquet for themselves, or to send to a family member or friend or anyone you want!

Mother's Day Giveaway!!! - CLOSED

CONGRATULATIONS TO

I subscribe via email...great giveaway, thanks.
April 27, 2010 5:53 AM

Mother's Day is just around the corner (Reminder - in the U.S. it is Sunday May 9th, 2010), and is a day honoring mothers, celebrated on various days in many places around the world. It is the day when you acknowledge your mothers contribution in your life and pay a tribute to her, often with flowers and gifts. What better way to honor your mother than by presenting her with a new piece of pearl jewelry?

PurePearls.com is a great pearl jewelry retailer that specializes in selling fine quality pearl jewelry at affordable, wholesale prices to their customers. You will find items in all price ranges, and all absolutely gorgeous. PurePearls.com is a member of the Better Business Bureau and has been interviewed by Time Magazine, InStyle, Fine Living Channel, and the Houston Business Journal among others.

I found out about Pure Pearls a few months ago, and I am a sucker for beautiful pearl jewelry, so this site captivated my attention for quite some time. My favorite pieces were the pearl ring and pendant pictured above. I love how classy and elegant they look, and would imagine they would look quite lovely on me as well, don't you think? :)

I had a chance to review a pair of their coin pearl earrings and they are beautiful. One of the thing I appreciated about this company and their products is that each product comes with a free appraisal. Pure Pearl offers jewelry at a discount, but they provide you with the appraisal so you know exactly how much that piece of jewelry is worth. This is very helpful when insuring any jewelry items, and also nice to know the value of what you are wearing out to dinner. Also, they have so much to choose from, I'm sure you would find something on this site that your wife or mother would LOVE to have for Mother's Day.
