Carmex Limited Edition - Holiday Gift Idea

Carmex's Limited Edition Collection features the same Moisture Plus lip balm Carmex fans have come to love, with its high-shine finish, ultra-moisturizing formula, and SPF 15 sun protection, with the addition of four fashion-forward patterns to choose from.

Each of the four new patterns was individually selected to represent the unique personality traits of the Carmex user—Chic, Fab, Adventurous, and Whimsical. Which one are you?

I tend to like the Whimsical the best. It's colorful and playful and just fun to look at. (Also easy to find in a dark purse).

Add them to your stockings this holiday season!

They have a passion for dogs and thus, feel that they deserve fun, functional products – ones that last longer and challenge the minds and instincts of their pets so they can be happy and healthy.www.Kyjen.com

We have a black lab/beagle mix dog. She's a little over 30 pounds and very sweet, but when it comes to dog toys she's brutal. We've only found 2 toys that will withstand her chewing and pulling and playing, so we were skeptical about these. We received the Bottle buddy mummy and the Invincible Santa. While it only took her 5 minutes to break the bottle top in the mummy, the Santa is still going strong over a week later. She's punctured one or two of the squeakers, but still loves chewing on it and flipping it around the house. It freaks our one cat out, but the dog loves it.

Visit their site and check out their variety for yourself. It's a great gift idea for that four-legged friend on your shopping list!

Bootights

What are Bootights? They are just what you'd guess. They are tights with an attached sock at the bottom so that your legs stay warm in winter while preventing slipping around in the boots. In many of the bootights, the sock is ankle, moisture wicking with arch support and sculpted cushioning.

I think this is such a great invention. Whenever I wore a skirt or dress in the cold months I would wear leggings or stockings with boots, but my feet were always slipping around inside my boots. To prevent this I would wear a pair of thick socks over my leggings/tights, but this product eliminates the need for an extra layer. It's perfect!

If you have this issue, try these for yourself! They're available in solids and prints.

They also make perfect stocking stuffers, so add them to your holiday shopping list today!

You can find them here: http://www.bootights.com/

Sound of Music Live on NBC - Thursday Dec 5th at 8/7c

This new version of "The Sound of Music" will be a faithful adaptation of the original stage musical, to retell the story for a whole new generation. And more than that, it will be broadcast LIVE, adding a whole new level of immediacy and excitement. Get ready to reintroduce your family to the most joyful, most emotional and most musical family adventure of them all.

From executive producers Craig Zadan and Neil Meron ("Smash," "Hairspray," "Chicago") comes an instant holiday classic: "The Sound of Music," based on the original Broadway musical. Carrie Underwood and Stephen Moyer star as Maria and Captain von Trapp in this beloved story of the young novice who falls in love with Captain von Trapp and his seven children, set against the backdrop of Nazi-occupied Austria. The jewel in the Rodgers and Hammerstein crown, "The Sound of Music" contains some of the most famous songs ever written for the stage, including "The Sound of Music," "My Favorite Things," "Do-Re-Mi," "Sixteen Going on Seventeen," "Climb Every Mountain" and "Edelweiss."
VIEWING DETAILS:
What: "The Sound of Music" on NBC
WhenDecember 5th
Time7:00pm CST (8:00 pm EST)

I grew up on movies like Wizard of Oz, Willy Wonka and The Sound of Music, so I was really excited about this remake. It's one of my favorite movies. The plot is not all warm and fuzzy, but you fall in love with the family and their story. What makes it even better is that Carrie Underwood is the leading lady, and I've been a fan of hers for a long time. She is such a refreshing wholesome person in an industry filled with addiction and scandal. I can't wait for the LIVE show on Thursday!

We'll be having a viewing party at our house. Photos and tweets to come. If you want to join in the fun use #faithandfamily #SoundofMusic when you tweet!

Campus Book Rentals and Rent Back Program

With a new semester approaching, I wanted to let all my readers know about a text book rental site, campusbookrentals.com.

Some perks are:
-save 40-90% off of bookstore prices
-free shipping both ways
-can highlight in the textbooks
-flexible renting periods
-we donate to Operation Smile with each textbook rented

How does Campus Book Rentals work?

So you've heard that they donate to Operation Smile, but what is that? I'll tell you...
Operation Smile is an international children's medical charity that heals children's smiles, forever changing their lives. Every three minutes a child is born with a cleft. One in 10 of those children will die before their first birthday. The children who survive are often unable to eat, speak, socialize or smile. In some places, they are shunned and rejected. And in too many cases, their parents can't afford to give them the surgeries they need to live a productive life. Operation Smile provides these services to children in need.

CampusBookRentals.com now has a new program, RentBack. This allows students to rent the textbooks they own to other students. It would bring in 2-4 times the money compared to just selling a book back. And what college student doesn't jump at the opportunity to make more money???

Advice From Moms

This post is part of a social shopper marketing insight campaign with Pollinate Media Group™ and Poise, but all my opinions are my own. #pmedia #cleanandfreshswitch http://cmp.ly/3/8vNxcO

Since becoming a mom almost a year ago I've learned that moms love to swap stories, both good and bad. I've been given so much advice from other moms that I've found invaluable, and others that I'm grateful that I know, but may have been TMI at the time. I'm not the shy type so hearing intimate pregnancy or birth stories don't gross me out. You never know when the information provided by experienced moms will come in handy.

Some of the better advice I've received was to get a sound machine and black out shades for our son's nursery. These have both helped tremendously in allowing him to sleep through the night and also to prevent disruptions due to noise or light. These were very good purchases and I would suggest them for any new mom or mom-to-be.

Another piece of wisdom that I've learned from moms is that everyone will tell you how they think you should be raising your kids, but ultimately you know what's best for your child or children. Some people don't believe in discipline, some do. Some won't feed their children sweets, others do. It's all depending on the parent and the child.

I also learned from moms of boys that boys are FULL OF ENERGY, and they weren't kidding! My son is not quite walking but crawling everywhere - full speed ahead. He loves to spend time jumping, bouncing, chasing our two cats or our dog, laughing, swinging, climbing the furniture and anything else he can grab ahold of. He is all boy!

Some of the advice that is helpful for those who are physically having a child is that post pregnancy many women experience light bladder leaks from the body's stress from pregnancy and delivery.  This was one of the TMI stories I heard from other moms, but it's something many people don't talk about. Having adopted my son and not having gone through delivery, I did not have this issue, but I know many moms who did or still do. That's why it's great to know that there are products out there that help with this issue like Poise pads.

Poise products were created especially for women who deal with light bladder leaks (LBL). Poise pads are different from period pads, offering all-day protection, comfort, and a variety of absorbency options. Poise pads quickly locks away wetness and absorbs odor. Poise allows women to go about their daily routine and activities without feeling worried or embarrassed about LBL. Poise pads are three times drier than the leading period-only liners, so why buy liners for a purpose they weren't intended for when you can get Poise made for LBL.

It's nice to be about to go out on family outings to fun places like Chick-Fil-A for a monster truck event, or for the husband and I to go to a friend's wedding and not have any worries about LBL.

Everyone knows moms are very busy people. They balance home, work, family, chores, errands and much much more. The last thing you want to think about when running around after little ones or running errands is bladder leakage. Poise helps relieve some of these worries, especially during the holidays when there's always more to do than there is time to do it in.

There are 5 different absorbencies available, so head on over to Walgreens and find one that is right for you!

GIVEAWAY: Seattle's Best Coffee Frozen Coffee Blends

Seattle’s Best Coffee Frozen Coffee Blends represents a brand new grocery category as it is the first time a major coffee brand has crossed over from the coffee aisle to the freezer case to present consumers with an affordable, easy way to make frozen coffee drinks from home.  Compared to some favorite coffee chains frozen coffee options, the SBC coffee blends have more than five times fewer calories (at 90 cal), half the fat (at 4 g) and significantly less sugar (9 g), making it a smart alternative for those looking to indulge and not feel guilty about it. Kroger, Meijer, Target, Albertsons all have taken them and they started appearing in stores this summer.  SRP is $2.99 per bag. NUT labels, images, and press materials for Seattle’s best live here: http://prn.to/11Ighfb.

My husband really enjoys his coffee in just about any form - hot, cold, iced or frozen, so I knew he would be excited about trying this new product.  He would go to McDonald's or Dunkin Donuts to buy a frappe for $1-$2 a piece. However, you can buy a bag of Seattle's Best Frozen Coffee Blends for $3.29, and you get 2 servings, so this is actually cheaper than getting a drink at a chain and paying for gas to get there and back.

My husband sampled the Mega Mocha and Coffee Chiller frozen coffee blends. He liked the concept of being able to quickly whip up a frozen coffee treat at home; however, was not impressed by the texture or the flavor.  He felt like the beverage was too runny and the flavor was not very strong. He followed the directions and added the suggested amount of milk and the entire content of the 8 oz. package.  We both thought this would taste similar to an iced coffee frappe that he usually would purchase at Burger King etc, but it did not add up.  Perhaps adding ice would have provided a thicker consistency.

Pros:
Quick and easy
Makes enough for two servings
Affordable price

Cons:
Texture was more of a liquid and not that of a frozen beverage
Flavor was mild
